About Us

Explorers is a section of the Scout Association, which is open to young people  aged 14 – 18, both male and female. Bebington District Explorers are based on the Wirral Peninsula in Merseyside, covering Bebington, Bromborough, Spital, Eastham and surrounding areas.

The activities, experiences and opportunities that are open to members of Explorers is pretty amazing. Whatever you are into, Explorers has it covered! We offer adventurous activities on a regular basis including climbing, abseiling, kayaking, shooting, archery and sailing. We can also offer some more unusual activities including skiing, snowboarding, ice climbing and zorbing.

Bebington District Explorers runs on three nights of the week, from three different bases: Monday night in Eastham, Tuesday night in Spital and Thursday night in Bebington. During these nightly programmes we offer a balanced range of activities including traditional scouting skills, social events, night hikes and much more. One night we can be going bowling, and the next we could be toasting marshmallows on an open fire.

We go away for weekends on a regular basis and try to get in at least two or three camps per school term. We also normally have a longer trip planned for the summer holiday. In 2008 we spent a week enjoying the Cornish sun in Newquay, and in 2009 we went international, spending 10 nights in Poland.

Whatever you want to do, we can probably do it. This is because as an Explorer, along with the rest of the unit, you can decide what you want to do and we will try to make it possible.
