Awards
As an Explorer Scout there are a number of awards that you can complete, which will recognise your efforts and commitment. These awards are recognised by many employers and so would look great on a CV! Some of the awards you can achieve are detailed below:
The Queen’s Scout Award
The Queen’s Scout Award is the top award in Scouting, the requirements for this award need more effort than the Duke of Edinburgh’s (D of E) Gold Award! More info…

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme

The Young Leader’s Scheme
Young Leaders is a scheme for Explorer Scouts to develop their Leadership skills. Young Leaders work within the Scout Association’s younger sections – Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. They become important members of the section’s leadership   team, and are supported with regular development courses. More info…
The Explorer Belt
The Explorer Belt is the challenge of a lifetime, which is open to Explorer Scouts aged over 16. It is a chance to take part in a ten-day international expedition that brings a real understanding of a different country, its people and way of life. It is sometimes described as ‘the antidote to the package holiday’. It is designed to help young people develop a real understanding of another country by travelling through that country, completing surprise projects, working as a small team and meeting local people. More info…
Activity Badges
There are 28 Explorer Activity badges that can be earned ranging from Air Activities, Nautical Skills, and Science & Technology. These badges lead on from those that can be earned in the Scout Section and lead on to requirements of National Governing Body Awards. The are also six staged activity badges which can be gained in swimming, hiking, nights away, emergency aid, music and IT. More info…
